The Board of Directors of the Kandiyohi County Area Family YMCA announces the retirement of Executive Director, Jenny Holweger, effective March 15, 2025.
Holweger has dedicated 37 years to the YMCA movement, including the past 6½ years leading the Kandiyohi County Area Family YMCA.
Holweger’s tenure was marked by both significant challenges and achievements. One of her most impactful contributions was opening a second child care location in Spicer, MN, ensuring more families could access high quality child care. Overseeing the YMCA through the COVID-19 pandemic, she also played a critical role in ensuring the organization continued to provide essential services, including food assistance, child care, and wellness programs. Under her leadership, the YMCA strengthened its impact on the community, particularly in supporting older adults and families during difficult times.
Reflecting on her time at the YMCA, Holweger shared, “I have been fortunate to work with amazing board members, volunteers, and a dedicated staff who give their all to ensure the YMCA remains a vital part of this community. I am incredibly proud of how this Y stepped up to serve our members in times of need.”
Holweger’s journey with the YMCA began in childhood when she participated in swim lessons at the Missouri Valley Family YMCA in Bismarck. This early experience fostered a deep connection to the Y, leading her to a job as a swim instructor and lifeguard, and ultimately to executive leadership, where she has spent decades shaping programs and initiatives focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
